THIS WEEK: Review all Chapters of Acts

This week (April 14 thru April 18), please review all chapters of Acts.

This is it!  Districts is in 4 days where we will quiz on all chapters of Acts.  Please check and make sure you have all the study materials you need.  Every things can be found here:  http://www.monroebiblequiz.com/search/label/acts

If you are missing anything that you need, please contact the coaches.

Study Tip: At this late stage, you have two choices to excel:  (1) cram, cram, cram and try to learn as much material as possible in the few days left, or (2) pick something you are good at and focus on that for the next few days.  We generally recommend #2.  Choose one thing and be the expert - FTVs, References, Multiple Part Answers, Short Answers, etc.

Study Tip: This is our last week of new material.  After this, it is all review which is much harder to stay motivated for.  Use the excitement and interest of "the new" to keep yourself motivated this week.  Because Districts is almost upon us!

Study Tip: Do try to study every chapter the exact same way, no matter what the content?  That may be a big mistake.  The last few chapters were speech heavy, which lends itself to a focus on keywords and situation questions.  But this chapter is action heavy, which lends itself to more of a focus on key events and sequencing.   Be sure to think about the kind of chapter you're working with before you study so that you can focus on the right things.

Study Tip: Do read through the text of scripture and find at the end that you know barely more than you did at the beginning? Do you envy those who can read it once, and be able to quiz effectively? Different people learn in different ways. Some people can do it by simply reading, others by listening. But you may be a learner who needs to really engage the text. Consider taking notes as you read - note down really interesting sections, questions that the text raises, notable phrases, etc. At the end, you will have applied not only your eyes but all the parts of your brain, and the learning may very well be far more effective. Oh, and don't forget to call, e-mail, or speak to the coaches, your parents, or the pastors to get the answers to those questions you had.

Study Tip: We're now all caught up after our weeks lost to snow and ice.  But the winter isn't over yet, and March might be coming in "like a lion".  Keep up your studying no matter what the weather, so you are ready for whatever comes.  And if you need more study helps, e-mail the coaches and just ask!

Study Tip: Last night, you should have gotten a good feel for whether you are up on your studying for the weeks we missed (chapters 19-22).  If not, take some time this week and review what you're weak on.  Waiting until the end might be too late.  But spend most of your time looking ahead with this week's chapter.

BIBLE QUIZ TEAM PRACTICE IS CANCELLED

Quiz Team Practice is canceled.  Between the ice on the roads and the predicted ice/snow yet to come down, we don't want to risk anyone's safety.  We will have an extended practice next Sunday to make up some lost time.

And, as the man said, "Whoever has been praying for snow, PLEASE STOP!"

Study Tip: It's cold out there and there is a lot of snow falling.  There are two ways to handle days like this:  (1)  get distracted and watch the snow fall or (2) use the extra indoor time to study up!  Districts is only about 10 weeks away, and this is your prime time to prepare.

Study Tip: Midwinter is behind us, but don't lose your motivation! Remember that Districts is coming up in April.  Study hard, practice hard, and you will find yourself in a good position in the weeks to come!

Study Tip: Do you learn the chapter well, but have a hard time placing questions in a real quiz where it is across multiple chapters? Creating and studying an outline of a book or chapters can be very helpful in putting it all in order in your mind. If you need an example of a good outline, this link may be helpful.

This can set the tone for your day, and give you a chance to apply the lessons of the chapter in your daily life.

Study Tip:  Wednesday is Christmas Eve and the Wednesday after that is New Years Eve.  It may be tempting to lose yourself in holiday cheer and forget all about Bible Quizzing.  DON'T DO IT!  Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the very man that the apostles are spending all of Acts talking about.  Set aside some time each day over the next week to review, and you'll find your Christmas season substantially enhanced.
